(473 mL) jars of CR-1 Black. Bring ceramic surfaces to life with the unique, spontaneous patterns of intermixable, mid-high fire (Cone 5-6) AMACO Crawls "CR" Glazes. Traditionally seen as a flaw, these glazes are made to embrace glaze crawl. Crawling occurs when the glaze pulls back from the surface during firing, creating a textured, uneven finish that reveals the underlying clay body or other glaze layers. Ideal for larger forms with significant surface area, Crawls require space to develop their unique look. Crawls can be used independently or layered over underglazes or other Cone 5-6 glazes like AMACO Celadon "C" Glazes for dynamic effects; the crawling will reveal underlying glaze layers, adding interest, depth, and contrast. Apply 1-4 even coats of glaze to Cone 04 bisque, then fire to Cone 5-6; allow each coat to dry almost fully but before any significant cracking occurs. Crawl glazes will develop hairline cracks as they dry; handle with care. More coats create larger glaze dots; thinner coats produce a finer bead effect. Increased coats will produce more cracks. Crawls can be mixed within the line to create custom colors. Food safe when layered over AMACO Celadon "C" Glazes.
